Spring Mini Sessions

I will be holding spring mini sessions this spring and they are going to be beautiful.  Louisville, Kentucky may have unpredictable weather, but it does have reliable beauty in the spring with its plethora of flowering trees such as Dogwoods and Redbuds.  I will choose the exact location the week of the shoot.  Below are the details for the session:

Saturday, April 23rd

5:15 - 7:45

15 Minute Time Slots

5 Digital Images

$185

Location- Spring Setting (currently is TBD depending on what is in bloom!)

FYI- This is the same evening as Thunder over Louisville, so keep that in mind when scheduling. :)

Louisville Photographer • Mini Sessions

Photographing mini sessions is one of my favorite ways to capture families.  It allows us to get their most favorite shots, while at the same time making it quick and fun.  Kids love mini sessions because they only need to pay attention for 15 minutes, and before they know it it's all over.  Moms and dads love minis because it's just a small amount of time devoted to the photos, and they can focus on the poses they want the most.

Photographing high school seniors is one of my favorite kinds of sessions to photograph.  It's much more laid-back and relaxed, and I just need to focus on one person.  For example, I can focus on getting the right, natural-looking smile, making sure every hair is in place, and working with them to where they feel comfortable with the camera and posing.  It can at first be intimidating for anyone in front of the camera, but my job as a Louisville senior photographer is to put them at ease and have fun at their shoot!  Luckily, my photoshoot with Erin was easy as can be because she is such a chill girl.  I actually have photographed Erin a couple times before when she was little, so it was so wonderful to see her again all grown-up, and beautiful as can be!

Our session was scheduled for early June, and I was glad Erin was a morning person because we were able to beat the heat (mostly) by starting at 8:00am. And my goodness, she looked gorgeous for it being that early in the morning!  We went to my favorite place for senior photos, Locust Grove.  There is just so much variety there with the porch, the homestead, scenery, and flowers.

What to Wear to a Senior Session

Not only was there variety in the location, but Erin also brought a variety of outfits.  She started with jeans and a blush top, then to an outfit with a cute skirt, and then finally she wore a pink dress with some feminine ruffles that looked just gorgeous on her.  Being a Louisville senior photographer, I always tell my clients to bring outfits that they feel comfortable in, but also bring offer a variety from casual to dressy so we can have a photo session that achieves different looks.

I hope you enjoy this gorgeous senior photo session with Erin.  She is going to be starting her senior year in the fall and I couldn't be more happy for her. Erin- you rocked this senior photo session, I hope you love it and have a great last year of high school!

The Hairgrove Family and I had such a beautiful spring family portrait session. I’m so excited to be sharing it with you now! This family was just so, so sweet during their entire session and we had a great time exploring Anchorage.  Heather dressed the girls and herself in soft greens, and Tony wore navy which paired well together for a Louisville family portrait session.  They had never been to the Anchorage Trail, and I was excited to show them how beautiful of a place it is with the paths, greenery, and bridges; it's been one of my go to places for years.

We took these photos in May, but it was a hot evening that felt more like a humid July! We all were laughing because the last time I photographed the Hairgroves was in November of 2015.  I recall it was one of my last photo sessions of the fall season and it was FREEZING.  All of us agreed that we much preferred the humid heat to the cold wind.  In addition, although I love the colors of fall, there is something special about the lush green of summertime, as you will see with these images.

Louisville Family Portrait Session

The beauty of spring & summer photos is also so exciting for a photographer nerd like me because when you time it right, you can stumble upon wild flowers. Sometimes I’m not so lucky, and bushes are in-between blooms, but for this photoshoot we were able to take photos in front of some lovely white flowers.  I think the Hairgrove daughters were pretty excited too, and were able to get some beautiful portraits of them nestled into the bushes with flowers all around them. Those are some of my favorites!

I hope you enjoy this lovely Louisville family portrait session of just the kindest and loveliest family.  To the Hairgrove family, thank you so much, and hopefully our next session will be somewhere in between freezing and hot!

Louisville Family Photographer· Family of Five · Andrea Hughes Photography

It's always fun to photograph families that we know personally, and it's even better when they are neighborhood friends.  Jackie & John are neighbors of mine, and they hadn't had photos done in five years. So not only did they need some updated images, but they needed some that included their two-year-old Bennett for their family of five!  Since I'm a Louisville family photographer, Jackie depended on me to find a location that was in nature, had flowers in-bloom, open fields, and plenty of room for the kids to run around in.  We settled on Locust Grove, my fave!  They showed up to the shoot perfectly coordinated with outfits; and their girls, Claire and Vivian, were super excited for their pic session; something that doesn't always happen.

We played games to get Bennett smiling for photos, and a few snacks and iPhone videos in between shots kept him happy.  I had Claire & Vivian sing songs to Jackie for some sweet mother/daughter shots, and Bennett wanted to be held by John which lent itself to a great couple of father/son pics.

After a few "school portraits," since there were no school portraits this year, we let the kids loose to run around.  Sometimes those are my favorite images, because the kids are happy and free!  To Jackie & John, I hope you love your photos, and hopefully your next photo session isn't 5 years down the road. Enjoy this family of five photography!
